About Best London Hostels
Best London Hostels was formed in 2005 by six of the leading and top quality backpacker hostel operators in London, who between them share more than 60 years of experience in the hostel industry. They all felt that government agencies were not doing enough to promote youth travel in the capital, so they decided to create their own organisation to assist with this as well as promoting their hostels as they positively stand out from the rest.
As confirmed by customers via Hostelworld.com and Hostelbookers.com, people who come to the Best London Hostels know that they will find the best quality features in youth accommodation in London.
Murray Roberts, co-founder of the Association and director of St.Christopher’s Inns, comments: “All of us (the members) were aware of the problem that some operators in our market care little about the customer and more about profiteering from excess demand. Long term this is bad for London and bad for hostelling, so we decided to do something about it and start building a brand that over time backpackers will come to trust and rely upon.”
Although London is reputed to be one of the world’s most expensive tourist destinations, you don’t have to pay a fortune to stay in a quality place if you know where to look. With 15 centrally located hostels in London, each with its own characteristics and unique feel, Best London Hostels provide travellers with the best value for money accommodation and experience of a lifetime!
The hostels are characterised by having a genuine commitment to continually improving standards for their guests and they are all safe, friendly and clean places to stay.
The Association also aims to be a mouthpiece for the London hostel industry. Kingsley Duffy of Generator Hostels said: “It is great to have a forum to discuss ideas, issues and concerns with other like-minded people who really know their market. For too long now our small layer of the travel industry has gone unheard and been largely misunderstood.”
